With over 20 years of academic leadership and research, Adel has spearheaded more than 17 projects, designed two degree programs, and taught over 20 subjects. A recognized authority in Computational Intelligence, Health Technology, Bio-Mechatronics Systems, Machine Learning, and Vision-based cancer diagnosis, he has contributed to over 230 peer-reviewed publications and holds 11 patents, 10 of which are industry-sponsored. Adel is also the proud recipient of six best paper awards and a Supervision Award for Higher Degree Research Supervision Completion.
As a Senior Member of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Adel co-founded the IEEE Computational Intelligence chapter in the NSW section and now serves as its Co-Vice Chair. He is also the Vice-Chair of the IEEE New South Wales Section Robotics and Automation Society Chapter. His commitment to advancing the field of computational intelligence is embodied in his innovative work on nature-based algorithms and novel approaches to deep learning with small data.
